Governor Steve Beshear has been named 2014 Communicator of the Year by the Public Relations Society of America's Thoroughbred chapter.He received the award for his communication to Kentucky residents about Kynect, the state's online healthcare marketplace created under federal health-care reform.
More than half a million Kentuckians have gotten coverage through Kynect, most of them through Medicaid, which Beshear expanded under the federal law.
